Our playroom is no longer a playroom. I could no longer stomach the fact that the largest bedroom in our home merely housed toys and served the interests of kids who claimed no ownership of the mess they created in there almost daily. So I got rid of a bunch of the toys, moved the rest to a smaller room, and a bedroom began to take shape. The girls helped me paint the walls a light turquoise last summer. By fall I'd painted a dresser as an accent. Then we added a few shelves for Lily's artwork and I finally sewed together curtains. It just might be my favorite room in the house now.
