Container beds.

Almost four years in this house and we're finally growing something for food rather than aesthetics. Two weeks ago, Tim and I built these:

Aren't they beautiful? When we bought our last house, we enjoyed the use of several raised beds that had been built by the previous owners. Since moving into a brand spanking new house the only vegetable (fruit?) that has made it into our soil and produced a harvest has been tomatoes. We've spent hours planting evergreens, perennials, bulbs, and annuals to give it curb appeal since our initial plan was to sell the house within the first few years of owning it. It didn't sell last year and it ain't gonna happen anytime soon. And because we can't eat flowers, this is our solution. Forty square feet of gardening space. Ample room for tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, onions, zucchini, peppers, corn, radishes, and basil. At least that's the plan.
