For some time, Anna has proclaimed her desire to be an artist when she grows up. Recently, she refined her goal to include being an author. She spent a few days last week writing her first book entitled "Whisper of the Hart", which she subsequently gave to her kindergarten teacher, never to be seen again. I was rather hoping it would make its way into our filing cabinet as a piece of Anna history. Sigh.
That day she came home from school to tell us that one of the girls in her carpool also wants to be an author when she grows up. In her own words, "Mom, T wants to write books when she grows up, too! She says that she wants to be a writer and make lots of money." I inquired, "Anna, do want to be a writer so that you can earn lots of money?"
"Nah. It doesn't really matter."
Ah. A girl after my own heart.

Did you ask Anna's teacher about the book? Surely she would recognize it as a treasure and save it for you? That could be like losing Mozart's first concerto!
